This is just a part I of everything I appreciate from candidates, but it's a good start. Let's dive in:
1. Thank you emails
Surprisingly, only about 5% of candidates send a thank you email after an interview. Believe me, it can truly make a difference.
Sometimes during interviews, time runs short, and candidates may need to elaborate on a point or clarify something they've said. A 'thank you email' provides the perfect opportunity for this.
Keep it simple, concise, and well-structured. And please, do a grammar check.
2. Clear and quiet backgrounds during online interviews
Believe me when I say, some candidates I've interviewed have joined the call from a Starbucks. It's not professional, and neither you nor the interviewer will be able to concentrate. If the proposed time doesn't work for you, simply suggest an alternative—it's not a big deal.
3. Prepared presentation pitch
It truly stands out when a candidate has prepared and practiced their presentation pitch. They appear more structured and articulate, avoiding aimless rambling.
4. Company research
Another aspect I highly value is when candidates have taken the time to research the company. This demonstrates their interest, proactivity, and commitment, often leading to the best questions.
5. A clear, concise, and structured CV
With barely 10 seconds to grasp what a candidate has to offer from their CV, we appreciate it when candidates make our lives easier with a well-designed resume.
There's nothing more satisfying than receiving an application with all the necessary information.
I hope this helps for your next interview.
Love,
Sandra
